Do you want to try and stay sober this holiday season? If so, you have come to the right place. This guide will show you what changes you can make to ensure that your drug rehab, or alcohol rehab progress isn’t all in vain.

Take Care of Yourself

Are you feeling hungry, tired, or that you are going overboard? If so, then you may end up feeling a bit run down. You ideally want to feel your very best over the holidays, so make sure that you are eating a healthy diet, limit any sweets, and also ensure that you are sleeping enough.

Take a Walk

Working out on a regular basis is a good way for you to practice self-care so you can feel strong, secure, and able to face anything that could come your way. If you don’t feel like working out, taking a walk can be a good idea.

Make a Plan

Attending a party is not a good idea if you are fresh out of addiction treatment. If you have just been to an addiction treatment center, then you may want to come up with a plan to help you stay sober. Know what you’re drinking before you get there and find a quiet spot away from the bar or temptation.

Identify Triggers

During your drug treatment or alcohol treatment, there’s a high chance that you will learn about your triggers. If you know your triggers, you can contact your sober buddy if you feel as though you are struggling.

Continue Meetings

Continuing your meetings is so important. Sure, you may be travelling and busy, but your meetings should always come first as a priority.

It’s Okay To Say No

It’s okay for you to say no. Don’t wear yourself out and risk relapse. Know when to accept an invitation and know when to politely say no.

Help Out

Giving back and giving other people assistance is a fantastic way for you to feel great during this holiday season. Don’t spend all of your time being on edge at parties and instead, try and spend your time doing something good.

Be Ready for Pushy People

If possible, you have to make sure that you are ready for pushy people. You need to know that they are out there and that they will try and tempt you. If you can have a script in your head about what you are going to say when someone does start to push you, then this will help you to make the best decisions, and it will also help you to stay in control of the situation. Of course, if you need help with your addiction, then we highly recommend that you contact our addiction center for treatment. We can treat drug and alcohol addictions, and our team is always here to give you the help and support you need to stay sober during this upcoming holiday season. We also only ever use proven methods so you can experience success with your new life.
